Agency & Representation

The North Carolina Real Estate Commission (NCREC) is a state agency focused on consumer protection.  To facilitate a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities, the NCREC requires all real estate brokers disclose who they work for (“agency”) at the “first substantial contact”.  Effectively, real estate professionals statewide are required to identify whose best interests they represent at the time of an initial detailed discussion about real estate.  This is to protect consumers from disclosing information they don’t want “used against them” later.  The NCREC has given the below forms to NC’s real estate professionals to aid in explaining agency:

Seller & Landlord Representation

If you are inquiring about a Dowell Commercial Realty (DCR) listing, DCR is seller and/or landlord representation.  DCR staff represents the best interest of this seller or landlord but owns interested parties honesty and fairness.

Tenant & Buyer Representation

DCR is also actively involved in representing buyers and tenants.  For more information on this, see Do You Have a Real Estate Department?  Why Not?

Please let us know if you have questions about agency.  We are glad to discuss this further in order that you know all of your varied, brokerage options.  Our main office number is 336-378-5065.  Alternatively, you can reach us through Contact Us or at info@dowellcommercial.com.
