Agency & Representation
The North Carolina Real Estate Commission (NCREC) is a state agency focused on consumer protection. To facilitate a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities, the NCREC requires all real estate brokers disclose who they work for (“agency”) at the “first substantial contact”. Effectively, real estate professionals statewide are required to identify whose best interests they represent at the time of an initial detailed discussion about real estate. This is to protect consumers from disclosing information they don’t want “used against them” later. The NCREC has given the below forms to NC’s real estate professionals to aid in explaining agency:
- Working With Real Estate Agents Brochure
- Working With Real Estate Agent Brochure (Leasing)
- Working With Real Estate Agents Mandatory Disclosure
